Question 1 Location: Water Filtration Plant You will need to take a walk along the River Greenway walking towards the filtration plant, while on the trail you will come to a plaque that talks about the last Ice Age in this area and gives the name of the lobe that left the Continental Divide. (greenway is open sunrise to sunset) What was the name of the lobe and how long ago was the last ice age?

Tour Stop # 2 Location: Lindenwood & Jefferson Just south of the bridge there is a plaque that you need to read. Who used the portage?

Tour Stop # 3 Location: Freimann Square You will need to find the statute of General Wayne. What was the year that General Wayne defeated the Indian Confederacy at Fort Recovery, OH?

Tour Stop # 4 Location: Memorial Park For this question you need to take a picture of yourself in front of the Main Gate. (On the way in next to the drive way.) It has three big white arches.

Tour Stop # 5 Location: Chief Little Turtle Memorial There is a sidewalk between two homes that lead you to a very small park with rocks that have engravings on them. Why is Chief Little Turtle held in highest honor and respect? How many trips did Chief Little Turtle make to the nation’s capital to meet with presidents?

Tour Stop # 6 Location: War Memorial Coliseum Johnny Appleseed On the top of the hill there is a fenced in area surrounded by shrubs. There is a rock with markings. What are the years engraved on the rock? Also take a picture of yourself by the fenced in area.

Tour Stop # 7 Location: Swinney Homestead (off Jefferson) When you arrive at the homestead there is a plaque by the front door. What was the year of the original construction? Also please take a picture of yourself somewhere on the property.

Tour Stop # 8 Location: McCulloch house (on Superior Street plaque right in front) What presidents did McCulloch serve under as Secretary of the Treasury? How old is this home?

Tour Stop # 9 Location: General Electric (G.E. on Broadway) When you arrive at this destination you need to take a picture of yourself in front of the building. (must have a G.E. sign visible in the picture)

Tour Stop # 10 Location: Joseph Hoagland building (corner of Columbia Street and Calhoun Street) For this question you must bring back a picture of the building. What did Joseph Hoagland invent?

Tour Stop #11 Location: Old Fort (East of Headwaters Park) When you arrive at the Fort you will need to take a picture of yourself standing next to the Fort. How many buildings are outside of the Fort’s walls?

Tour Stop #12 Location: Smith Field (Smith Field Airport off of Ludwig Rd.) When you arrive at the Airport you will see a big sign next to the parking lot. Take a picture of the sign.

Tour Stop #13 Location: Science Central Just in front of the building there is a little spiral rock garden. All kinds of rocks are here; igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic. You are interested in the rock in the center of the spiral. This is the rock you will need to identify. If the rock has a granular appearance (the rock is QUARTZITE). If the rock has a shiny crystalline luster (the rock is MARBLE). If the rock has thick, dark bands alternating between lighter colored rock (the rock is GNEISS). If the rock has many flakes of platy minerals all pointing in the same direction (the rock is SCHIST)

Tour Stop #14 Location: Chief Richardville House (Bluffton Road north of Airport Express) When you arrive at this destination you need to take a picture of yourself in front of the building.

Tour Stop # 15 Location: Baker Street Train Station When you arrive at this destination you will need to take a picture of yourself in front of the building.

Tour Stop #16 Location: Flood of 82 (Fox and Fox building on Superior and Sherman) When you arrive at this destination you need to measure how many INCHES high the waters from the flood of 82 were. (There is a small monument with the flood level marked on it. Measure from the line to the grass.)

Tour Stop #17 Location: Philo T. Farnsworth Home (Corner of State just after Parnell Ave. Yellow house white fence) When you arrive at this destination you need to take a picture of the informational plaque that tells about Philo and his home.

Tour Stop # 18 Location: Coney Island For this Tour Stop you will need to go in and tell the cost of 1 Coney Island Coney Dog and a regular soda from the sign above the counter.

Final Stop #19 Home again This is the final Tour Stop. Take a picture of your family or home. Write a thank you note to all those who helped you with the Tour of Fort Wayne.
