Welcome Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Advisory Council Members

 What sparked your interest to be a part of this FCS Extension Advisory Council?  Without being humble, what are some of the best qualities and special gifts that you bring to this advisory council?

Subject Matter Content Audience

Identified Initiative Team Leaders. Pam Sigler, Curriculum Specialist, provides process and structural support for all teams. Team Leaders identified potential members of their teams. Overarching goals for each initiative identified.

Goals: 1. Improve the health of individuals in the Commonwealth of Kentucky through education regarding nutrition, physical activity, chronic disease, and healthy weight. 2. Provide skills necessary for individuals to solve problems related to nutrition, physical activity, chronic disease, and healthy weight and to empower individuals to take initiative and action and reflect on their actions.

Goals continued: 3. Form partnerships with families, communities, and state groups to collectively address problems related to obesity, physical inactivity, and poor nutrition choices. 4. Improve the quality of life for all people living in Kentucky.

Programs:  Taking Ownership of your Diabetes  Increasing vegetable intake in children  Family Mealtime  Food label FUNdamental

Goals:  Improve the economic well-being of individuals and families throughout the life cycle; as well as of communities.  Reach self sufficiency by reducing debt, banking the unbanked and having emergency funds.
