3 Discussion items from August 18 th Determine type of service needed Identify users, their locations, & why they need or use transit services Identify constraints for ridership & service Identify funding & people who qualify for it  Survey riders to see who doesn’t “fit” in these funding categories Discover existing education – see if people know what’s available SETRPC concurred as the lead agency Rules for funding may pose as obstacle

4 Strategy for South East Texas Gather data on existing conditions for transit service & coordination  Transit Services Survey Determine gaps, barriers, and procedures affecting transit service & coordination Identify transportation coordination models Community Outreach/Involvement Transit Coordination Action Plan

5 Transit Services Survey Identify users, location of users and non-users, and determine if and why the service is used (if provided); Identify the people who qualify for funding services and whether those qualifications are accounted for; Identify riders who don’t necessarily fit in an agency group of funding category; Survey the knowledge/education of transit services available; Identify whether need for service is perceived or real; and Categorize the need for service.
