Overview Estate Owned by: Franz Haas and Maria Luisa Manna-Haas Wine Region: Lombardia, Trentino Alto-Adige, Veneto Winemaker: Franz Haas Total Acreage Under Vine: 650 Estate Founded: 1880 Winery Production: 2,952,000 Bottles

Location The vineyards are located in the Regions of Trentino and Veneto. The vineyards are all located in the municipalities of Montagna and Egna, on the slopes of the Cislon mountain. The grapes grow at elevation that range from 792 to feet above sea level. Soil composition: gravel and loamy

History The winemaking history of the family Haas goes back to 1880, the actual winery was established in Kris wines are a joint effort of winemaker Franz Haas and Winebow. They were created to be appreciated everyday, and to make every meal special. The first bottling was in 1990.

History Kris: A Marriage of German Precision and Italian Artistry The name Kris is a creative anagram for Franz Haas’ full name, Franziskus. Letters were chosen randomly and arranged in an imaginative fashion, as well as easy to pronounce.

The Label The label was created by Riccardo Schweizer, a well known artist from Trentino. Each label conveys Kris' expressive style and portrays the blending of art and science in the Kris winemaking process.

The Label The gold orb = the Italian sun ripening the grapes to perfection The hand = the human hand in cultivating the grapes and crafting the wine The kiss mark = the role of the lips that ultimately savor the wine The heart = the love for wine The theme of science is present in each label design, from the molecule-inspired grapes in the Pinot Grigio label to the DNA-inspired color strand in the Pinot Noir label.

Philosophy The winemakers philosophy is to be able to produce wine which tastes of the grape it was made from and wine who can age. From the very beginning they have aimed to produce quality wines, in a respectable and professional way, not to forget the commitment in creating a valuable packaging, and last but not least humanity, on which they build on.

Owner Franz Haas was born November 5th, 1953 in Bolzano, Italy. Franz graduated from the University of Innsbruck (Austria) in 1981 with a degree in business administration, and then completed four years of oenology study in Geisenheim, Germany. In 1986, he took over the family winery, where today he oversees all aspects of vineyard and cellar management, and winemaking.

Owner Shortly after taking over the winery, Franz began making significant changes aimed at further enhancing quality, including planting new vineyards with dramatically increased vine density. He also reduced yields to concentrate flavors in the fruit. The quality and longevity of the resulting wines have exceeded expectations.

Pinot Grigio delle Venezie IGT 100% Pinot Grigio Franz Haas takes full advantage of the “delle Venezie” designation by marrying the best fruit from the appellation’s three permitted regions to yield a Pinot Grigio. Aromas of acacia flowers, citrus, tangerine, and hints of almonds. Recommended with risotto, tossed salads, homemade pasta and grilled white meats or salmon.

Pinot Noir Provincia di Pavia IGT 100% Pinot Noir Carefully selected from hillside vineyards nestled among the Apennine foothills of the Otrepò Pavese region of Lombardy. Aromas of ripe blackberries and red forest fruits, followed by firm yet fine-grained tannins on the palate. It pairs exceptionally well with speck (the local thick-sliced, cured ham) and Taleggio cheese, and more casual fare such as pasta, pizza or smoked sausages.

Heart Rosso Sicilia IGT 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet, 25% Montepulciano Intense perfume of wild berries, crushed fruit and leather. Ripe fruit flavors are enhanced by its lively acidity. Recommended with roasted meats, rich pastas, smoked sausage and flavorful cheeses.

Malbec delle Venezie IGT 100% Malbec Intense aromas of blueberries, and ripe cherries with a hint of savory earth. Ripe fruit flavors are balanced with a strong acid structure, making this an remarkably food-friendly Malbec.
