OCTOPUS

Description Massive bulbous head, large eyes, and eight distinctive arms. Most unique about them is their variety of colors it uses to hide from pray or distinguish their mood. They have very well developed vision and sense of touch.

Species With over 300 known species Invertebrate Mollusk Live for 1 to 2 years. Carnivore Weighs 6-22lbs They have 3 hearts and 9 brains

Hiding From Predators They can change the colour of their skin and even the texture to match their surroundings When found an octopus will release a black ink to obscure the attackers view giving it time to swim away. The ink even contains a substance that will dull the smell making it harder for the predator to follow. They also have beaklike jaws that can bit hard, and poisonous saliva mainly used to subdue prey.

Habitat Bottom dwellers The octopus inhabits many diverse regions of the ocean, including coral reefs, pelagic waters, and the ocean floor as well as small crevasses and holes They live in both warm and cold waters Saltwater Cold water octopuses tend to be bigger.

Basic Information Octopods lay their eggs among coral reefs and sea anemone. After hatching the young swim to the surface and flout with the plankton for about a month then return to the bottom. If eats other sea creatures like crab and crayfish. If they loose an arm it may grow back.

Intelligence Octopods are one of the most intelligent sea creatures The water tank story! The Crab in bottle story! IU IU
