Infographics Day 1

Learning Target: I can create an infographic in order to raise awareness about an issue for a country in Africa.

Why create an infographic? You already have research about an issue in an African country Creating an infographic will make your research paper stronger because you’ll see what information is most valuable for your thesis The goal of an infographic is to present information in a visually interesting way

Infographics Requirements o I have a thesis about an issue for a country in Africa o I have a symbol to represent my thesis o I have at least 3 pieces of evidence that show a strong connection to my thesis o I have a relevant graphic, symbol, or graph that represents each piece of evidence (at least 3) o I listed all the sources where I got my information (for both graphics and text) o I have no grammar or spelling errors

Symbols/Graphics/Graph

The symbols/graphics/graph you choose to represent your evidence: Needs to mean something Needs to communicate information Needs to teach

Symbols/Graphics/Graph What do these symbols mean? What information do they communicate? What do they teach? 1 mosquito net

How could you use these symbols? (What could the symbol mean? What information could the symbol communicate? What could it teach?)

1.Topic 2.What did you learn? 3.Why was the infographic created? 4.Describe the way information was presented. 5.Describe one part you would like to use in yours.

To do: 1.Read 3 different infographics 2.Answer the questions for each infographic 1.Topic 2.What did you learn? 3.Why was the infographic created? 4.Describe the way information was presented. 5.Describe one part you would like to use in yours. 3.If you finish analyzing 3 different infographics, continue researching your topic for your research paper.

Infographics Day 2

Learning Target: I can begin my infographic by brainstorming ideas for 1 symbol/graph that represent my thesis and 3 symbols/graphs that represent each main piece of evidence.

To do 1.Open up Keynote on the iPads (in the “Presentation” folder) 2.Choose one of the 6 templates or create your own (You are using only 1 slide!) – If no templates are on your iPad, talk to Ms. Sterling after the mini-lesson 3.Use the tool button in the upper right corner to change or format an object or text. 4.Use the plus symbol in the upper right corner to add images. 5.Brainstorm symbols that match your thesis and each supporting detail. Write down or copy the website where you got the information!
