HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM FOURTH GRADE! 1/12-Reading Snapshot #4 1/13-Early Release at 1 pm 1/14-Family Fitness Night 1/15-Attendance Celebration 98% or higher 1/18- Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday (No School) 1/19- Writing Snapshot #4 1/21-PTO Meeting at 6 pm 1/26-Math Snapshot #4 1/27-Early Release at 1 pm 1/29-January 100% AttenDANCE Party *Snapshots are District Assessments based on objectives taught in class Students should report to school by 7:45 am Students should follow uniform code It’s imperative that students come prepared for class (pencils, notebooks, etc.) Practice spelling words daily Read for a minimum of 40 minutes daily Complete reading and math homework Students need to be picked up promptly on Early Dismissal days (1/13 and 1/27) Please monitor what students are bringing to school. We are having an influx of gum, candy, rainbow looms and toys. Reading-Students are exploring expository text which communicates information about a topic using facts and details. Text is organized using examples, classification, cause and effect, problem and solution, and compare and contrast. Social Studies- Students are beginning to study the causes and effects of the Civil War, how the Civil War affected Texas and the United States. Writing- Students are working on the writing process and fine tuning expository text. Math- Students are composing and decomposing fractions with like denominators. They will solve problems dealing with measurements of lengths, intervals of time, liquid volumes and mass. They’ll also explore money using addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division as appropriate. Science- Students are exploring weathering, erosion, deposition, and the water cycle.
