A little about me… Mrs Sarah I come from England and I have been teaching for 30 years. Some of my past experience includes, being an Early Years Coordinator in the UK and in my 15 years at Patana, I have been Head of Year of K2, Year 2, Nursery and K1 and Head of Year Foundation Stage. This is my 4 th year in the Nursery. I have three boys who are now 25, 22 and 19 years old and have all been students at Bangkok Patana. My husband is the Teacher Librarian in the Primary Library.

Daily Routine Please remain with your child in the Nursery garden, if you arrive before 7.20am. We actively encourage the development of the children’s independence skills: Red books on the mat Back packs in the cubbies Hats on for outdoor learning (in the children’s cubbies Monday – Friday) Sunhats labelled with your child’s name and class The children take them home on a Friday for a weekend wash! Self-registration pictures on the wall A visit to the bathroom

Soft Start Come and share your child’s learning or observe how the teachers interact with the children when they are learning through play 7.30am – 8.00am Photographs on ‘special days’ only please

Separation We recommend that you keep your morning routine the same each day while your children are settling into Nursery. Please always say a quick ‘Goodbye’ to your child before you leave and let a member of the Nursery team know you are going. Although it is tempting to have a ‘peep’ please stay out of view. Thank you!

End of the Nursery Morning At the end of the morning, your children will be brought to the door in Learning Zone 2 and handed over to you. Please let us know if someone else is picking up your child and who it will be. The pick up time is 11.50am. Please can you call ext: 2266 if you are going to be late so that we can let your child know, as they can become upset when the other children have left the Nursery. Please leave the Green area by 12 as the FS2 children will be using the outdoor learning area from this time.

School Transport If your child is using the school bus service please let us know in the Red Book if your child is not travelling on the bus and also inform the Transport Department. Please ring ext 2266 if your plans have changed during the morning. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to check s in Nursery during the morning.

Snacktime/eating and drinking Snack: Café Free flow style from 8:30 - the children serving themselves Non-negotiable is water or white milk M/W/F fruit T/Th savoury Exploring ‘empty’ and ‘not empty’ – the milk bottle baskets Wearing aprons to wash up bowls Using their cups at the water coolers inside and outside Encouraged to be healthy and to try new things.

Celebrations Birthdays: We love to celebrate birthdays! Cupcakes always go down a treat (small ones please!). No nuts please, life-threatening risk for children in FS. We have a child with a serious NUT ALLERGY in Nursery If your child is celebrating a birthday you can arrange a lunchtime to share small cupcakes. You are welcome to join us around 11:20am and you can have lunch with your child. Please can you provide candles and something to light them with. Many thanks.

Swimming and PE Swimming on a Tuesday and Friday – Please can towels be named, a picture helps with identification too. Flip-flops stay at school. Goggles and Swimming caps can be worn. If your child has long hair please tie it back. 3 consecutive absences from swimming will require a note from the doctor. P.E on a Wednesday and Thursday

Shoes! A closed toe sandal with a strap around the heal and Velcro fastening in a dark colour. OR black leather (or imitation leather) shoes with Velcro fastening and white socks.

Library area: Book Change Please bring your child’s book bag on Mondays. Your child will need their book bag to take a new book home. They will share their new book with a member of the Nursery team. This may be 1:1 or as part of a small group. We will complete the red book reading diary and send home the book bag, and look forward to sharing your comments.
