Definition 1 Fashion is a reflection of social, economic, political and cultural changes. It expresses modernity, symbolizing the spirit of the times. Definiton 2 It is a universal language that refers to current trends in clothing, foot wear or accessories. Popular Culture In popular culture, fashion is related to the study of clothes in general.

 The history of fashion design is normally taken back to 1858, when the English-born Charles Frederick Worth opened the first true haute couture house in Paris. Since then the professional designer has become a dominant figure.

 Trends are in essence very complex mechanisms that mirror changes in the economic and political landscapes.  The terms ‘ fashionista’ and ‘fashion victim’ refer to someone who slavishly follows current trends. Following trends benefits and stimulates society, in the process of promoting creativity.

 A little black dress (LBD) is a black evening or cocktail dress, cut simply and often quite short. Fashion historians ascribe the origins of the little black dress to the 1920s designs of Coco Chanel and Jean Patou intended to be long-lasting, versatile, affordable, accessible to the widest market possible and in a neutral colour. The "little black dress" is considered essential to a complete wardrobe by many women and fashion observers.

 Lifestyle and trends are strongly influenced by social-cultural changes, such as modernization, technological innovation and also by artistic movements. It is important to realize that trends are made by people, who on different levels get involved with different artistic environments.  Pop culture is highly influenced by celebrities and includes the daily interactions and cultural ‘moments’ that constitute the everyday lives of the mainstream. In Terms of fashion, an example of how pop culture can influence our lifestyle and our looks, can be found taking into account the most stylish TV shows, like in the 80’s ‘Dynasty’ and in the end of 90’s to 2004 ‘ Sex and the City’.

 The celebrity culture has and always will have an influence on society as they are constantly in the media. Celebrities are a kind of role models; their looks are studied and copied by a lot of people, which makes them very interesting to fashion companies who try to place their products on them. Fashion brands want to use the glam of Hollywood actresses to project that glam on their products and at the same time to show that luxury is doing well during this economic crisis.

 Fashion has its influence in the society that affects everyone, from kids to mature people. Be it a kid or an adult, everyone has different points of view regarding the same pieces of clothing or accessories. clothingaccessories

 There is much more to our clothing choices than we might imagine. For many people, what they wear is merely a matter of habit, but when we dress in the morning, it might pay us to be a little more careful in the choices we make. Doing something different with your clothes might be a way of changing the impression others have of you and establish yourself as a trendsetter. People make snap judgments about people from the clothes they wear and their assessments happen in the first few seconds of seeing another individual.

 Fashion is an art that inspires people to express themselves. Fashion promotes originality as designers endeavor to outdo one another through their unique and intricate design. People often show off their personal identity, talent and culture through their fashion choices. Of course, there is no piece of clothing or style that makes a person look successful. When trying to project a positive image, the basics work (the LBD, the blazer, the pumps, etc) and attitude matters.
