Measuring College and Career Readiness PARCC YEAR TWO RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP SCHOOLS

Provide tools to assess student learning and support instruction during the school year Report growth in performance as well as absolute achievement Determine whether students are college- and career-ready or “on track” Report comparable results across schools, districts and member states Generate valid and reliable information to inform instruction and accountability decisions. Use technology for a range of purposes including increasing student access, providing accommodations, engaging students, and creating efficiencies in administration, scoring and reporting WHAT ARE THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVES OF THE PARCC ASSESSMENT SYSTEM?

HOW WILL WE USE PARCC DATA GOING FORWARD? Elementary Schools:  PARCC data will be used as one factor among many for placement in supportive services such as BSI/I&RS/CST.  It will serve as teaching points for targeted skills by way of whole class, small group, and individual instruction.  It will contribute to curricular updates based on assessment trends and patterns.

HOW WILL WE USE PARCC DATA GOING FORWARD? Randolph Middle School:  Student Academic Placement – Currently, PARCC scores are not used for the academic placement of students. As the PARCC assessment becomes a more valid and reliable measure of student performance, we may use either the Math and/or the Language Arts results along with other individual student performance data to make recommendations for academic placement.  Program Review – To ensure our school curriculum is properly aligned with the PARCC assessment, results may be used as a strategy to address any necessary revisions of middle school course curricula.  Benchmark Question Design – The development of benchmark assessments to be used at different times during the school year provides teachers an opportunity to measure a student’s readiness for the PARCC assessment.

HOW WILL WE USE PARCC DATA GOING FORWARD? Randolph High School:  Results from last year's PARCC assessment are being analyzed by teachers, supervisors and building administration.  The scope and sequence of our current curriculum is being analyzed according to the subgroup test scores.  The overall curriculum in tested subjects is being compared to questions in subgroup areas.  When itemized analysis becomes available it will be used to determine where our strengths and weaknesses are as a school and individually.  PARCC data is not currently being used for individual student placement.

How does this year’s PARCC compare to last year’s PARCC?

There is only one testing window as opposed to two last year. April 11 – May 20 The total amount of testing time has been shortened.
