Warring States Period 476-221 BCE The Warring States: Seven states in China eventually started fighting for control on an almost incessant basis. Fall of the Zhou Dynasty In 256 BCE, King Nan was killed when the Qin invaded the city of Chengzhou. This officially ended the Zhou Dynasty, but a new period did not begin until the period of war between the other seven states ended. The three largest powers the Qin, Qi and Chu continued to wage war until, finally, the Qin won out in 221 BCE.

During the Spring and Autumn period, Daoism, Confucianism and Legalism all became large parts of society and how rulers would make decisions. Confucius was one of China's greatest philosophers. His beliefs and teachings live on today.
