Shade plants add to the scenery and beauty to areas in your backyard that are mostly devoid of natural light. These places are hardly exposed to natural light doesn’t mean they should be hard to landscape. Shade plants are the perfect remedy to lift up the dullness of the dim areas and add more beauty to your garden. The beauty of these plants lies in the fact that they can bloom and blossom even without being in sunlight. Hence, they can easily be put under the shade and can survive through harsh weathers. To make sure you pick the right shade plants for your backyard, here are some characteristics you should look for:

Characteristics Flowers Shade plants usually don’t have flowers. However, if they do, they’re not fragrant because plants require energy for that too. Flowers that can survive in dim light and tolerate low light areas are good choice for shade plants. Plants with heavy foliage require direct sunlight to survive. Choose plants with low foliage; they work best a shade plants.

Plants Amethyst flower – this beautiful flower works well in shades and can live off filtered sunlight. Moreover, it’s an annual flower so you don’t have to go through the hassle of replanting frequently. You can plant them in pots, containers or even baskets. Their purple and white shade looks great and adds beauty to the yard. Garden Hydrangea – the garden hydrangea is one of the best choices for shade plants. This plant with beautiful small flowers clustered together forms a big ball and blossom to give your backyard a tinge of elegance, beauty and serenity.

The leaves also vary in terms of texture; they can be dull or glossy. Heuchera – this bright green plant adds liveliness and freshness to the shaded area of your garden.
