Presentation transcript:

 Area of Focus to monitor fluency with students  That are behind in their reading skills and  use a program to see if the students improve  Both in their fluency skills and comprehension skills.

Explanation of Problem Some students fall behind and it is difficult to catch up. In some cases students spent a part of their elementary years in speech classes. Students comprehension may be okay but their fluency is at a lower grade level children feel embarrassed when they are not at their standard reading level

Variables, The class that I will work with will be the students in the skill center Or lower level reading class at Thurston Middle school Children that need special attention one on one A small group of children within the skill center Two to four children.

Before we begin working on the reading program the students will take a Pre-test, this is a test that is already programed into the Soft ware so it is quite easy to monitor where they begin and The progress they have made from the beginning of the course To the end.

, During the two weeks the students will be able to work with eye Q on the computer I will observe and assist them if they are having difficulty With the program Intervention/Innovation

Group Membership, The skill center teacher will allow me to take at least two students to the Library I will assist them in setting the program up I will assist them in the pre-test and help them begin the program

Negotiations The permission consent form will signed by The teacher and principle if needed. It is important to understand if a student does not want To participate in the eye Q program, I will give the Student the respect and allow another student to Participate.

To allow student to choose whether they would like To try eye Q giving them the option to try it and if They do not feel comfortable using the reading Program they are entitled to choose not to.

Timeline, which is the anticipated schedule for each phase of the intervention, The schedule will be everyday at 3:00 The students will go to the library to work on the program eye Q A total of 7 minutes a day for two weeks

 A survey is taken by the students to monitor their attitude and enthusiasm to read  Computers will be available in the library  The eye Q reading program will be made available to each child that chooses to participate  Pre-test of timed reading fluency  The eye Q program begins  7 minutes a day for one week
