Discussion - History ICWES was originally conceived by SWE in 1958 SWE hosted ICWES1 in 1964 in New York SWE hosted ICWES7 in 1984 in Wash, DC Had been organized by an International Committee until INWES was formed in 2003 SWE had considered ICWES12 in 2002

Discussion - Strategic International component of SWE’s vision has grown in Strategic Plans since 1998 SWE is seen as influential leader in the global women engineering environment Goal #4 – Inclusive Global Community Also supports International Membership Taskforce and members working abroad Sharing Best Practices on a global scale!

Discussion - Logistics ICWES will be integrated into SWE National Conference format with parallel track 500 to 750 international attendees Modify registration and add area tours Few additional ICWES Events Few INWES Events – BOD and AGM SWE events with international theme

Discussion - Resources Committee of SWE & INWES volunteers Paper/poster abstract reviews INWES and ICWES events planning International fundraising for travel support International corporate support Interface with Convention Management Travel/Tours assistance

Proposed Motion The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) should prepare and submit a bid to the International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists (INWES) to host the Sixteenth International Conference of Women Engineers and Scientists (ICWES16) in conjunction with the SWE National Conference already selected for Los Angeles, CA in October 2014.
