ATTENDANCE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES UNDERSTANDING WHEN AND WHERE YOU SHOULD BE TO SCHOOL.

ATTENDANCE Each student is expected to attend school and be present in class when the bell rings for each class to begin. Being present in class means being in the classroom, at your seat, and ready to learn.

ABSENCES 1.Sick day(s) - If you are sick and can not attend school a parent MUST call the attendance office before 8:00 AM to excuse you. 2.Students who are participating in athletic events, fieldtrips, or other official school activities will be excused by their teacher/coach. 3.Students must talk to their teachers after an absence. You may have up to 3 days to turn in an assignment that was missed while absent according to teacher discretion. 4.You will be marked absent if you are more than 15 minutes late for class.

PRE-ARRANGED ABSENCES Definition: Absent for longer than 3 days due to being sick, family vacation, a funeral, or medical recovery. 1.It is your responsibility to talk to teachers and get work for the time you will miss school. 2.You will have up to 3 days to turn in the work after you return to school. 3.Work with your teachers, counselor, administrators, and parents to stay on track for good grades and graduation.

TARDY Definition: Delayed beyond the expected proper time to be in class. (After the bell rings to start class) 1.Be in your seat in the classroom, ready to learn. 2.If you are 2-8 minutes late, go directly to class. You do not need a late slip from the office. 3.If you were with another teacher, you do not need a slip from the office. Teachers will communicate with each other. 4.You will get a slip if you were with office staff. (Administration, Counselor, Secretaries, Nurse, etc.) T.H. Bell Junior High

TARDY If you are 8-14 minutes late, you must check in to school at the attendance office to get a late slip. Parents must check you in at the attendance office if you have been to an appointment - Doctor, Dentist, etc. so we can code it in the computer. Remember you will be marked absent if you are 15 or more minutes late for class unless excused at the office.

CITIZENSHIP AND ATTENDANCE Your citizenship grade will be changed to an N or U for excessive tardies and absences. This can effect your eligibility to play sports, join clubs, or participate in activities such as No FUN parties. High School students also earn.75 credit for attendance and may cause you to not graduate.

TRUANCY Definition: Missing school without permission. Not attending or leaving school campus without permission is considered truancy. Truant students may be issued a citation by the School Resource Officer and will be referred to Juvenile Court.

SUMMARY Be to school on time. Be in class on time. Get a late slip when needed. Check in at the attendance office if you come to school late Make sure you are on track to graduate.
