TEXAS STATE (SAN MARCOS) MAP VISUALIZATION, C TO 2015 PROGRESS REPORT Project Manager: Christian Hartnett GIS Analysts: Corby Shaub Johnnie German Dylan Epley

INTRODUCTION  Nmotion GIS is collaborating with the Texas State University Archives to develop a “unified map collection and a visualization to see how the physical San Marcos campus has developed over time”  Attempting to tell the story of Texas State University through spatial data 2

WORK COMPLETED  Data collection  Organizing data/identifying exact construction/demolition dates where possible  Video creation  ArcGIS Time Slider Function explained 3

CURRENT WORK  Finalization/improvement of video  Creation of web map using ESRI’s Story Maps 4

FUTURE WORK  Geodatabase of all spatial data used in the project  Web map that allows users to choose different eras of Texas State University’s development spatially with interactive pop ups of pictures and historical facts.  Analysis of campus size and student population  Written final report outlining the project.  Poster that shows final maps and showcases Texas State University’s expansion.  Final Presentation to be given in class by Nmotion GIS 5

PROBLEMS/ISSUES  Unable to track down the exact construction or demolition dates of some of the buildings  Some buildings in the attribute table did not have attribute information  We were unable to identify them and were only able to provide a general date of construction or demolition  Historic maps of campus in the provided dataset are not georeferenced making it more difficult to track down information 6

SCHEDULE - Project to be completed between October 1 and December 2,

CONCLUSION  On tract to complete the project by December 2 nd, 2015  Ultimate goal is to make this data available to researchers and students interested in the history of Texas State University 8
