Ending Family Homelessness Housing families serves over 600 homeless, near- homeless, or newly housed children and family members each day. Housing families case mangers and program staff provide individualized care and advocacy for all family members. Increasing the inventory of permanent affordable housing and providing high-quality supportive services to meet the needs of all family members.

Children and family program serves to improve the well being of children and parents in HFI transitional shelter. HFI is one of the few affordable housing organizations that provide a comprehensive out of school time program for youth who are homeless. Has helped nearly 350 preschool and school aged children. We provide free transportation to tutoring.

Eviction prevention and family stabilization HFI’s prevention and stablization programs assist families who have lost or are in danger of losing housing to successfully establish or retain housing. Our stabilization case managers help hundreds of families make the transition from shelters to establish fully-equipped households in rental housing. HFI has prevented more than 200 evictions during the past six years at agency cost of about $ 2,600 per family.

Family emergency shelter Once in HFI transitional housing families receive intensive case management, comprehensive housing search, life skills instruction, mental health counseling services and other assistance in overcoming barriers to securing permanent housing.

Affordable housing Most families occupying these units are low- income and pay no more than 30% of their income for rent. Now, as a result HFI support, a majority of families have stabilized in these units for more than two years.
