Monday 12 th January 2015 The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord
John the Baptist was a preacher who wanted to help others become closer to God. By preaching to others to feel bad for their mistakes, to ask for forgiveness, and by teaching that they needed God in their life he was preparing the people to hear from Jesus himself.
When people heard that John was in the area they would come from all over to listen to him and get baptised.
Jesus was Baptised by John. It is often described as a turning point in Jesus’ life as Jesus began his main teaching after He was baptised.
God of light, you sent your Spirit down upon your Son Jesus at his baptism. Send us your Spirit too, so that we may be filled with the courage to do all that you ask of us. Amen.
As I kneel before you As I kneel before you, As I bow my head in prayer, Take this day, make it yours and fill me with your love. Ave Maria, Gratia plena, Dominus tecum, Benedicta tu.
All I have I give you, Every dream and wish are yours, Mother of Christ, Mother of mine, present them to my Lord. Ave Maria, Gratia plena, Dominus tecum, Benedicta tu.
As I kneel before you, And I see your smiling face, Ev'ry thought, ev'ry word Is lost in your embrace. Ave Maria, Gratia plena, Dominus tecum, Benedicta tu.
