FA Skills Programme In an ideal world, what three things would you take from tonight's session? What do you think the FA Skills Programme is? What do you think our philosophy is?

The FA Skills Programme The FA Skills is a nationwide unique football coaching programme that gives 5-11s the opportunity to get active, learn new football skills and enjoy the game We’ve been providing high quality football coaching for children since 2007 We provide after-school football coaching, holiday football coaching and we also work within primary schools providing specialist football coaching

The FA Skills Programme Support various grassroots clubs across the County Skills Centres run across Sheffield, Barnsley and Doncaster Typical cost of a session is £3pp, holiday courses vary

Philosophy Our aim is to develop better and more technically gifted football players but also to give every child the opportunity to be the best that they can be. The FA Skills is based on a unique FA coaching model that helps children of all abilities to grow, develop their skills and to reach their potential. The FA four corner model encompasses four key attributes that are vital for any developing young footballer: Physical, Technical, Psychological and Social elements, helping children to develop more than just their football skills – we’ll help them to gain confidence, build self-esteem, learn to work as team and improve their decision making.

The Four Corners Why does a coach need to work across these four areas? Physical Technical Psychological Social What do you think this would look like in a practical/coaching setting?

The Four Corners 2) During the practical session, can you list as many examples of Andy influencing this area. Also, observe Andy's coaching manner and styles 3) Present back to the group 1)Your table will be allocated one of the four corners (technical, social, physical and Psychological)

Tonight's Philosophy We need to build for the present and build for the future, not by looking for faults, but instead finding solutions

Practical

“The problem is, in England, you teach children to win the game, in Spain, they teach children to play the game” Jose Mourinho - Chelsea
