Welcome Back!! 1/5/16

Backpacks Backpacks go in the back of the classroom. Backpacks may go on top of or below the tables. No where else.

Food and Drinks I will ask you to finish your food and drink outside of class. If I see you eating or drinking, I reserve the right to confiscate it and eat or drink it in front of you. Or throw it away.

Journals You need your own paper for notes. Your journals are for warm-ups only. Write the date for each warm-up. Keep them organized so I can find them easily. Don’t waste paper. I have given you each one journal. If you have lost or used it up, it is your responsibility to get a new one.

Phones No charging. Ever. Period.

Participation Sign everything! No more asking questions in English. TRY! If you can’t sign it, fingerspell it, or act it out.

GRADING UPDATES Each 3 weeks you have been getting a participation grade, labeled “cultural competence”. You will be starting at a 70. You can gain points for volunteering to present, asking questions in class, signing when asked to sign, answering questions, coming for tutorials, etc. You will lose points for being on your phone, using your voices when not allowed, being asleep, being off- task, working on homework.

PHONE UPDATE NEW RULE: Phones will stay in your backpack or purse at the back of the room, period. No exceptions. You will no longer have to trade your phone for the bathroom pass, unless you need to take your purse with you to the bathroom.

TECHNOLOGY UPDATE Everyone needs a Google account. Everyone needs to have Google Drive downloaded on their phone. This is what we will use to send videos that we record. We will be recording more videos this semester.

1/6 Remember… Pick up your earplugs and journals. Place phones in your backpack. Place backpacks on top of or below the table in the back of the room. No food or drinks. Thanks and gig ‘em.
