Dra.Lanny Positive Thinking for LUPUS patients Laniyati “Lanny” Hamijoyo

Dra.Lanny Half full? Or ……………………… half empty?

Dra.Lanny Thinking Positive “The art of looking at things with a positive point of view” Positive Thinking affects: how you act how you deal with others

Dra.Lanny Negative thinking Filtering. You magnify the negative aspects of a situation and filter out all the positive ones. Personalizing. When something bad occurs, you automatically blame yourself. Catastrophizing. You automatically anticipate the worst. Polarizing. You see things only as either good or bad, or black and white. There is no middle ground. Opposite of positive thinking….

Dra.Lanny 1. Believe in yourself How to think positive?

Dra.Lanny The general and the coin

Dra.Lanny Believe in yourself What we think of ourselves is more important than what others think of us

Dra.Lanny Christopher and Dana Reeves foundation helped so many patients with spinal cord injury

Dra.Lanny Barbara Johnson, in 2006: "I think one of the most important things that Chris did for many, many people was: he showed them that there is life after a spinal cord injury or after a stroke. You don't have to sit in the dark feeling sorry for yourself. I think that he touched many, many, many people and certainly that was an enormous contribution to the quality of life of the people

Dra.Lanny 2. Count your blessings

Dra.Lanny When you come home and find this……….

Dra.Lanny And your kitchen ……….. so messy….. But think positive: A messy kitchen is a happy kitchen (know why?!?)

Dra.Lanny 52 y/M All I had built up over my lifetime had been swept away…… I have nothing left at all….. Everything gone. There is no hope, I’m too old to start all over again.

Dra.Lanny Count your blessings

Dra.Lanny Count your blessings Hate vegetables? They starve from hunger!

Dra.Lanny Do your best and leave the rest to God God knows what the best things for us even sometimes we don’t understand it Like a mother who knows when the right time to give the ice cream to her daughter

Dra.Lanny After the diagnosis: -”Will I lose my job?” -”I’m scared” -”Will I ever be able to have children?” -”How can I pay for the medicines?” lupus…….

Dra.Lanny Lupus…… “No mater what I do or how much I sleep, I still wake up tired” “Between pain, stiffness and fatigue, I feel like an old, old person” “Why do I look so awful?, I don’t even look like myself- the rashes in my face” “My beautiful hair…..” “I hate the fact that I eat so much, but this medicine makes me hungry all the time, I keep gaining weight”
