Reasons and benefits of participation Please copy down the date, title and learning outcome and complete the starter Learning Objectives: Focusing on the different reasons and benefits of sport Learning Outcome: A/B I have consolidated my learning from the previous 2 lessons and felt confident completing the end of unit exam. I feel I have achieved a A/B in the end of unit exam. B/CI have progressed my knowledge on this topic and can recall most of the key information to do with the topic. I feel I achieved a B/C grade in the end of unit exam. C/DI am now able to describe the key reasons and benefits for taking apart in sport and physical activity. I feel I achieved a grade C/D in the end of unit exam Starter is to use your workbook to ask your partner questions on the previous 3 lessons. Unit Breakdown 4 of 28 Edexcel GCSE PE 2009  UNIT 8: 1.Explain what constitutes a healthy, active lifestyle Exercise and physical activity immediate and short-term effects of participation in exercise and physical activity (isometric and isotonic contractions, responses – increased fuel/energy demands, lactic acid) effects of regular participation in – and long-term effects of participation in – exercise and physical activity (adaptations – increased strength and size/hypertrophy) the potential for injuries such as muscle strain and muscle atrophy (due to injury and inactivity), and their treatment using common techniques Rest (rest required for adaptation to take place, time for recovery before next exercise session) Diet (effects of protein in building and repairing muscles) Performance enhancing drugs (use of steroids to aid muscle building and recovery).
