Welcome to Early Years – Acorns Class

This is Sharon, (Acorns Class Teacher) and James (Oakridge Teacher)

This is Daisy, our Higher Level Teaching Assistant

We have other staff that help us: Sarah, Lucy, Lisa, Lisa and Cheryl More to come!

Other people we may see in school are Jacqui the Head Teacher and Michelle, one of the Deputies.

Anita and Debbie are our Nurses (They help if we get sick or hurt)

We may see Lesley, Claire, Karen or Laura in the Office.

We will also see Mari the Early Years Speech and Language Therapist.

Now we are in Acorns Class, we get to wear a uniform to school.

Arriving at school in the morning, we go to the hall, where we meet our teachers.

When we arrive in class: We hang up our coat and bag. And go to our table to do a workbox task or look at a story, while we wait for everyone to arrive so we can say ‘Good Morning’.

We have different areas in the Acorns class room: a play area, a computer area, a quiet area and work desks.

We also have different areas in Nursery: an outdoor play area, a sensory area, an indoor play area and work/snack time area.

During the day we can use - Our timetable to see what we are doing and what is next. If we want anything we can ask, use our PECS book or find a photograph on the Communication Board,

During the day we have a time to say hello, have a snack time, a lunch time & at the end of the day quiet time.

We go to the hall to eat our lunch, Some of us have packed lunch. And some of us have school dinner.

After dinner we learn to clean our teeth

In class we do lots of different learning: Coordination activities Use a workstation Read books Use the IWB and Computer

We learn to use personal timetables and choosing boards

We do painting,

and Music

We play inside...

In the playground...

And on the field.

We visit the Sensory Garden

We have celebrations ! Easter egg hunt And Birthdays.

We sometimes have visitors, like the Firemen

And sometimes we go out on trips.

Some of us go to the Sensory Integration Room

And we use the Hydrotherapy Pool

We also have lessons, we learn to Recognise and write our name Say alphabet sounds Count (to 20) Explore the world around us Do lots of SINGING!

We go to other places around school for different activities. We use the Food Tech Room to do cooking. We also visit the Multi- Sensory Room and the Ball Pool.

Most of all we have fun while we learn!
