Teaching Aims and Purposes:  Develop the students’ abilities and skills of listening and dealing with the information they hear.

A. Listening: Filling in forms In many listening tasks, you have to listen and complete a form of some kind. To do this successfully, should remember the following points:

1. Before you listen to the recording, study the form carefully to see what kind of information is missing. Then you will know exactly what to listen for in the recording. 2. The information you hear may be given in a different order form the way that it appears on the form.

3. Take great care with the spelling of names and with addresses and phone numbers. Use capital letters at the beginning of names and place and for Road and Street. 4. Sometimes you may need to tick some boxes. Choose the right one (s), and do not tick all of them.

Practice Listen to a conversation between a man who works for the Sunshine Fitness Club and a woman who wants to join it. Complete the application form below as you listen.

B It is often important to persuade people to believe or do something. To do this, you should: Speaking: Making persuasive recommendations.

Use adjectives such as great, fantastic and wonderful to gain people’s interest. List reasons why someone will benefit from doing something. Use positive, upbeat language to encourage others to agree with you. Use phrases such as why not…? and You should try … to encourage others.

Work in groups and choose one of the products below. Create a television advertisement and perform it in front to of your class. Use the dialogue above and the useful tips that follow to help you. B2

Useful tips Think about advertisements you have seen or heard. Which ones works well? Why? Who would be interested in this product? Why would people want to buy this product? How can you make this product sound interesting? You could include some statistics, a song, or some acting.
