The Cliffs of Moher is known as a Burren Landscape. This means “Stony Place” Acid rain has been falling on the Earth for millions of years. As it does, the limestone is dissolved away leaving behind spectacular shapes and caves.

What type of rock is limestone classified as? What test can you do to determine if a rock is limestone or not? Sedimentary Acid Test or look for fossils. If these cliffs were put under extreme heat and pressure what new rock would they turn into? (look in ESRT’s) Marble

All of these layers were laid down at the end of the Carboniferous Period.

Assignment Answer the following questions in complete sentences: 1.During what Era were the Cliffs of Moher formed? 2.Under what conditions were these limestone layers formed?
