Büyükada’s History Buyukada is the largest of Prince’s Islands. There are many historical remains from the Byzantine Empire and the Ottoman Empire. For example monasteries and mansions. This small place has been home to a combination of the sacred religions. And so far no problems have occurred.

Buyukada Population There are 8 thousand inhabitants of the island today. But the island is crowded because of summer arrivals, daily visits and summer houses.

Island Life The island is beautiful to live on. Because nature is always together with animals, trees and the sea. Phaeton sounds, cats playing, the rush of the dogs, the sun, the smell of a clean sea and bird sounds… Here, it is impossible to be unhappy. Winters are calmer. Indigenous people and local tourists come. Sweet-scented mimosas blossom in spring, hyacinths first see a natural wonder, and then see the people of the island tourism are energetic.

Life in the Island Tourism Nature tourism in the island comes alive with the arrival of Spring. Domestic and foreign tourists flock to see this beauty. When you meet your foot on the island ferry. This clock tower belongs to the Ottoman Empire. Then, under the clock tower are colorful flowers.

There is a photograph of each incoming tourist drawn here. You'll start touring the island by getting phaetons. You enter into the spectacular beauty of the island. Sometimes the dogs who follow the phaetons accompany them. They want your love. When you return to the seaside you can enjoy a pleasant dinner from the fish and meat restaurants. With seagulls and cats by your side.

Art Events When you visit the islands next to the natural beauties of the city you will also be away from the chaos in the multi-cultural beauty. Prince’s Islands festival was open to the public theaters. Music groups, singers, orchestras came. And the island gave a feast of music to the public. Out of this picture, photo exhibitions have been made. Sayings of Turkish writers have been made.
