Why was the atom bomb dropped on Japan in 1945?

Little Boy and Fat Man Fat man- The second was dropped on Nagasaki, Japan, on the August 9, It was dropped from a U.S. Army Air Force plane. It was 7 feet 8 inches long, 5 feet in diameter, and weighed 10,200 pounds. Little boy- The first atomic weapon used in warfare was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan, on August 6, It was dropped from a bomber piloted by the U.S. Army Air Force. They were both activated using a self set off mechanism.
