DO-NOW: Why would Japan attack the United States?

Pearl Harbor: December 7, Japanese planes attacked Hawaii by surprise and almost destroyed the Pacific Fleet. Island-Hopping: was a military strategy employed by the Allies in the Pacific War against Japan and the Axis powers during World War II. Hideki Tojo: Japanese army officer who initiated the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and who assumed dictatorial control of Japan during WWII Nanjing massacre: the Japanese committed a series of atrocities against innocent civilians, including mass execution & raping
