What is a Wiki? An easy to use webpage with an “edit” button

What is a Wiki? Post simple websites for parents and teachers Post peer reviewed projects and group projects Manage school and classroom documents Classroom discussions and debates Teacher collaboration Collaboration with an International Classroom!

Wiki’s in the classroom… Acts as a great motivator for students Inspires creativity and innovation Easily monitored A new, fun, easy way to learn Promotes communication between parents, students and teachers

What’s the use? View and print weekly homework sheets (Lost or ruined homework sheet? No longer a problem!) Read updates on what we have been doing in class Locate materials to accompany and support homework (spelling lists, math manipulatives, special documents, etc.) Practice activities that have been introduced in class Admire student work Receive reminders View class timetables Find parent notices Access links to support student learning

Getting Started… Privacy Settings… Public : anyone can see and edit your wiki. Protected : anyone can view your space but only members can edit. Private : only members can view or edit your space.

Editing your Wiki Click the “edit” button near the top of the page. Write text! You can also format your text by adding color, making text bold or italicized. When you are finished, simply click “save” to see the finished product!

Adding Links to your Wiki Click “edit” near the top of the page. On the toolbar, click on the “link” button Another screen will appear with an area available to add a link. Click “ok”

Adding Photos to your Wiki Click “edit” near the top of the page. Click on the “link” icon. Another window will open in order to browse your computer for photos. Click “upload files”
