Latent Heat of Phase Changes

 There are 4 phases (states) of matter.  Solid- definite shape and volume, has the least energy (ice)  Liquid- takes the shape of its container and has a definite volume, more energy (water)  Gas- takes the shape of its container and its volume can change, even more energy (water vapor) can never be seen !!!!!!  Plasma- stars, nuclear fusion, lightning, highest energy

 There are 4 phase changes (we are not going to be concerned with sublimation and deposition): Phase from Phase to Phase change name Latent Heat Liquid SolidMeltGain LiquidGas Vaporization Boiling-throughout Evaporation- surface Gain Gas Liquid Condensation Lost LiquidSolid FreezeLost
