Read the entire “Empire & Nations, 1750–1763” and Roads to Revolution, 1764–1775” sections. In addition, please take a few moments to reflect and answer the following question: What does it mean to you to be a United States citizen, or in other words, how would you define the character of a United States citizen? Please bring your written answer with you to discuss during one of the sessions at the beginning of the week. PRE-INSTITUTE HOMEWORK

You will be assigned a person of the past. You are to learn as much as you can about that person. What they did? Did they have family? Who they interacted with? What buildings would they have frequented? What level of society? What was their perspective on independence from England? At the end of the week, you will write a journal article from your person’s perspective. PROJECT FOR THE WEEK

The Content  Did I know this or is this information new to me? The Classroom  I know this, but how could I adopt, adapt, or create from this for my classroom? The Facilitation  I know this; I do this with my class. What can I learn from how the facilitator is conducting the experience? How might this impact my interactions with other professionals?  APPLICATION TO THE CLASSROOM
