Book of HAGGAI How does this relate to: you as an individual? us as Bradford Family Church?

Overview of the book Split into 8 groups. Take 5 minutes to skim read the book of Haggai. Open the envelope marked ‘puzzle’. Work together to assemble the puzzle correctly, then check your answers.

4 messages from God over a 3 month period. Consider your ways! The book asks you to consider your ways four times ( 1, v5 & 7, 2 v15 & 18) As each message raises questions: Consider your ways Consider our Church Family’s ways

Haggai 1 v1-15 ‘ Build God’s house’- message of rebuke 1.Do I/we believe the promises of God are for now? 2.Does this influence what I/we think, say and do? 3.Am I/we reaping poverty? 4.What is God asking me/us to be obedient to? 5.How much building (doing what God asks) is going on?

Haggai2 v1-9 ‘The best is yet to come’- message of encouragement 1.What rubble needs to be cleared? What needs to be shaken that is not of God? 2.What foundations are laid? What is God asking you to build on them? 3.Have you joy? If not, what has discouraged/ disappointed you? What opposition are you facing? 4.Are you looking back? If God is at work now it cannot be inferior! 5. What is in a little while? Are you looking forward to God’s second coming? What about your and others salvation?

Haggai 2 v10-19 ‘Bring God’s blessing down- continue to be obedient and blessing will come 1.Why wasn’t/isn’t God blessing obedience? 2.What makes us holy? Are we living holy? 3.What sin lays in the camp (in your life and that of the church)? Do we need to confess? 4.What fruit can I/we see? Do you have peace and joy in your heart? 5.Are you growing and being a blessing to others? Are you giving your all?

Haggai 2 v ‘His day will come’- personal encouragement 1.Who needs God’s and our encouragement? 2.What are the enemies in your/the church’s life? (sin, illness, sorrow, poverty, time, etc) Have you surrender these to God? 3.What seems impossible but we have to trust God for? What do you/we need faith for? 4.What is God saying? What promises are yours/ours (generic and specific)? 5.Are you/we seeking God on a regular basis so we can be his signet to others?

Consider your ways! God is calling us to reflect both individually and as a church. He is asking us to be stirred by his spirit, obedient to his word and to do his will. He is asking us to believe the best is yet to come. He will bless us as we do this. He is encouraging us to be God’s signet until he returns.
