topic I’m going to tell you why we need to move on from fossil fuels and move onto a new source of energy called nuclear power

We need to move on from Fossil Fuels Do you want the world to be continuously be polluted by fossil fuels? I your think why not or what could go wrong, well think again there are so Many things that could go wrong

Easier to mine and collect  In South Australia we mine 4000 tonnes of uranium each year, every year. That’s enough to produce around 20,000 megawatts of energy annually. Which is enough energy for Australia for 1 year!  In China 6078 people die from mining coal in 1 year!

Nuclear energy is way safer  The pollution from fossil fuels goes around the globe and killing around 170,000 people each year  For every 1000 gigawatts of energy from oil, 37 die from it, but producing nuclear energy kills none  coal, biomass and oil were the least safest way to get energy  Coal and fossil fuels are damaging the atmosphere. Without the atmosphere Earth is left vulnerable from space junk, asteroids and other things space could have

More environmental  Uses seawater instead of fresh drinking water to cool down the nuclear plant  Fossil fuels such as coal uses fresh water to cool down the plant  Nuclear plants give of less nuclear pollution

After the incident at Japan  People who wanted nuclear power (61%) has dropped to 41%  The accident was caused because of a tsunami  But… Japan is on top of 4 tectonic plates which makes it a very vulnerable place for tsunamis  And Australia is not even close to one so the probability of an accident is extremely low

In conclusion We need to stop polluting with Fossil Fuels and switch to nuclear power  More environmental  Nuclear energy is way safer  Easier to mine and collect  Low probability of an accident occurring Uranium even has a friendly name - ‘yellow cake’
