Melioration maintenance plan Land improvement maintenance plan is aimed to help to regulate and to plan of land improvement maintenance works and to plan the work connected with environmental measures. Agricultural Board is responsible for preparing a plan Agricultural Board have prepared 2011 and 2015 Drainage Maintenance Plan. Which is consistent with the water management plan what was prepared by the Ministry of Environment. Estonia n Government have approved a plan dec 2011 and

Estonia prepared three river basin plans The East Estonian, West Estonian and the Gauja river basin  The first river basin management plan with the action program approved by Government  In the new period VMK-d and the action program approved by the Government of the Republic 01/07/2016  goal: all waters, at least in good condition

Estonian river basins plans

Surface water bodies quality rating 2014 Very good Good Moderate Bad Poor

8 Ditches quality and work 2014

Why was it necessary to changed a plan?  Land improvement systems shall be amended at least every six years  Additional funding from public open ditches deposited through the National Rural Development Plan

Changes in plans  Changing the location of so cooled state ditches;  Needs to select new objects of maintenance work  Necessary to develop a new methodology to works prioritization;  Taking into account a water management plan changing must re-assessed of the rivers the ecological condition / potential.

The transformation of the ditch bed HW Period preceding the Agriculture Board carried out the maintenance work in the amount of km - 3,718,068€

Over 10 km² catchment and sediment risk of transmission in the rivers was built 16 sediment ponds

Future challenges  It is necessary to improve also of the rivers situation in the natural spots  Removal of beaver dams. Is that landowner responsibility?  Who is responsible for the maintenance of drainage systems what is not privatized (unreformed state land) ?
