Select a partner. Answer the following questions:  Do you have a Smart Phone?  If so, what type of data plan do you have?  How did you determine which data plan to select?  How much of your data plan do you use?  Are you being efficient in your use of your data plan? Why or Why not?

 The purpose of this session to provide guidance on the process of defining what data are critical to making decisions to improve student achievement and determining how to mine and use the data that ultimately strengthens instructional practices.

By the end of this session, participants will have:  Guidance on how to create a plan for collecting and using data.  Examples of templates that can assist in the planning process for collecting and using data.  Time to locate, review and analyze data specific to their school.

 Think through what data are needed to understand student achievement trends and patterns  Inform PLTs and departmental meeting topics and discussions

 Help teachers communicate what data are needed on a regular basis to understand student needs and personalize instruction  Inform decisions about consolidating sources of data and highlights sources may need to be integrated

 Include a variety of staff with varying roles in the planning process; collaboration between educational, administrative and technical staff is critical for this task
