Cynthia Barnes Introduction

Hometown I live in Conyers, Georgia just east of Atlanta. I have lived here the majority I my life. When I was married I moved away for a little while and later moved back. Conyers is a small town and it is one of the places where “everybody knows your name” at least they used to. Our quaint little city seems to be the hot spot for movie scenes. Make a Joyful Noise, The Account, Alvin & the Chipmunks, and episodes of The Originals have all been filmed in Conyers. I love living here!!!

Master’s of Child Development I decided to return to Ashford for my Masters Degree last year. I have been employed with Head Start for 13 years. I love my job but I know when I get older I may not be able to work in the classroom so I decided to return for my Masters degree to expand my options for other position. I would like to become a state certified trainer, maybe apply for local childcare licensing agency. I earned my Associate’s Degree in 2010 and my Bachelor’s Degree in 2014 My passion is working with preschool age children watching them learn and grow. I love seeing children explore and discover new things.

K-12 Teachers I have always enjoyed school. My favorite teacher was Mrs. Green; she was my 2 nd grade teacher. I can still remember her eating boiled eggs and drinking coffee for breakfast. She was very strict but still my favorite. I cannot think of a least favorite teacher (it has been so long). I did have a 11 th grade teacher that was a little different and had a unique way of teaching and his name was Mr. Rapier. I can’t say I learned very much Spanish that year!

Favorite Food If I could eat one food everyday it would be “Chicken & Dressing.” not just anyone’s chicken and dressing but my mama’s chicken and dressing; it is the best.
