Record observations on the life cycle of different animals (e.g., butterfly, dog, frog, chicken, snake)
Day 1
Morning Meeting We will play freeze tag and the only way they can get unfrozen is to tell the person “good morning” and give them a high five.

Day 2
Morning Meeting Butterfly greetings: the kids stand up in a circle and greet their classmates by saying good morning and hooking their thumbs together and waving their fingers in the sign language for butterfly.

First Steps: 1.Take out a piece of paper 2.Fold it hamburger style then hotdog style
Label the four squares: Eggs, Caterpillar, Chrysalis, Butterfly
Final Steps: 1.Put each kind of food in the correct spot 2.Check your work with mine 3.After I see it and say you are right, you can eat it
Day 3
Morning Meeting Adjective Greeting. Before starting this activity we will brainstorm some appropriate adjectives and write them on the board. After we are done brainstorming we will sit in the circle. To start each student has to come up with an adjective that starts with the same sound as the first name of the person sitting on their right. Once everyone has an adjective we will go around saying “good morning (adjective) (first name). For example I would say “good morning Jazzy Janet!”

Day 4
Morning Meeting We will do the elbow rock. The students will walk around and shake elbows and say “good morning.”

Day 5
Morning Meeting Have the students do electricity. Everyone holds hands in a circle. The first person passes a squeeze to his neighbor and says “good morning.” The students will go around the circle doing this till it gets back to the beginning.
Test The students will write down one of the parts of the life cycle and what happens during that part.
Lesson Adaptations Give the students more time if needed or give them the name of a part of the cycle and have them write about it or vis versa.
