Young Professionals report Christoph Ilgner „GOLD“ is to become „IEEE Young Professionals“ transition is to be completed by Aug. 15, 2014 (courtesy L. Delventhal, IEEE-YP) Christoph Ilgner, March 1st, 2014, Santa Fe

Young Professionals report (courtesy L. Delventhal, IEEE-YP) Christoph Ilgner, March 1st, 2014, Santa Fe

Young Professionals report GOLD/YP statistics (as of Feb. 27, 2014, so before the terminator run): GOLD members: 759 (male: 575, female: 107, unspecified: 77) – was 764 a year ago male: 76%, female: 15%; unspecified: 9% - no significant change) Overall member structure:4463 (male: 3696, female: 330, unspecified: 437) male: 83; female: 7%, unspecified: 10% - no significant change, roughly 1% less women, which is within the statistical variation News on Young Professionals activities at conferences: Plan to hold events at most/all of our conferences this year. Personal invitation upon registration at least at NSS-MIC Christoph Ilgner, March 1st, 2014, Santa Fe

Young Professionals report Some statistics information from IEEE: Women comprise approximately 10.5% of the total membership and average age of the total membership is roughly 41. The Young Professionals constituency hovers around 64K and we expect it to double as of 15 August 2014 when the new membership year launches. One of the reasons for the change in criteria and tracking was to improve data integrity. We will be obtaining baseline data as the transition progresses towards completion later this year. Conclusion: IEEE has learned a lesson on how careers evolve these days 50% quantile of young professionals among our members is 10 years after they have graduated  NPSS needs to address their needs, since 3-5 years after 1 st degree are devoted to PhD preparation already YP web page: ieee.org/ypieee.org/yp Christoph Ilgner, March 1st, 2014, Santa Fe
