Web Page Design: Final Assignment By: Cheyanne Hester
Here is a video on why I want to be a graphic designer, and how I feel about the career:
EDUCATION: Earning an associates degree in Graphic Design Some colleges require a bachelor's degree A major in Graphic Design or a related field is required Will I Be Needed In The Future? Yes, but with some hindrance Graphic designers are desired more in larger cities Small towns tend to have less production companies Related Occupations: Art Directors, Craft and Fine Artists, Desktop Publishers, Drafters, and Industrial Designers The graph shows demand for people in this profession as of late 2015
What Do They Do? Meet with clients Use digital illustration, photo-editing software, and layout software Create visual elements such as logos, original images, and illustrations Design layouts Determine what colors, images, and typefaces to use Present design concepts to clients or art directors Incorporate changes recommended by clients or art directors into final designs Review designs for errors This is to ensure that the client receives EXACTLY what they requested
Mainly, they spend their days meeting with clients, working on and/or correcting the things they create, and publishing/printing their work. Can it be stressful? Well, yes. Very rarely is there a career that won’t become stressful. However, if you are patient and kind to the clients/art directors, they will be patient and kind back. It’s all in how you exert yourself.
On average, a graphic designer makes about $46,900 per year and $22.55 per hour Changes? The only major change I could find is the job opportunities are almost always unpredictable. Concerns? Like others, job security. People are scared that if they make a mistake, they will lose their job due to very particular clients.
Threats: DIY Designers They may steal a graphic designers clients Penny Pinchers Clients that refuse to pay the price, no matter how good the designer is Copyrighting Designers fear others will steal their work and make profit on it Stealing their clients and disabling them from using their work as an example for potential future clients.
Keep taking as many computer classes as possible in High School Desktop Publishing and Web Page Design, for instance Go to college and major in Graphic Design Find a college which provides classes in this field Gain an associates and bachelor’s degree in the field Take classes in other fields Do this so other jobs will be available until I can find one in graphic design
Photography I am highly passionate about this art form, and hope to make something of it someday. Web Developer It is still with computers and requires the same level of degree as graphics Multimedia Artist/Designer Honestly, this job just seems extremely interesting
