HONORS COURSES/AP courses * You can choose to take English, Math or Social Studies for honors credit * Honors Credit is weighted on your transcript * Weighted means that it will be worth more points towards your GPA * If you earn an “A” in an Honors class, it will be worth a 5.0 on a 4.0 Scale * Taking a class for honors means that you are challenging yourself as there are more opportunities to advance your learning * Choosing an honors course will require a year long commitment
Credits needed to Graduate ○ 4 Credits of English (1 English Class Every Year) ○ 4 Credits of Math (1 Math Class Every Year) ○ 3 Credits of Science ○ 3 Credits of Social Science ○ 1 of these is US History ○.5 is Civics ○ 2 Credits of Foreign Language ○ 6 Credits of Electives ○ 22 credits Total
POWER SESSIONS ○ What is a Power Session? ○ Power Sessions are offered three times per school year and last one week (aligned with Fall Break, Spring Break, and Summer) ○ Project Based Learning Curriculum offered by staff members to engage students through various topics ○ Earn GPA and credit towards graduation ○ What types of power sessions are there and do I have to attend? ○ Credit Recovery - Required to attend. Counselor recommendation. ○ Supplemental - Not required to attend. Extended learning opportunity for all students.
