COCO Chanel Elena & Milica

Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel was a French fashion designer of women's clothes and founder of the Chanel brand. Chanel was born on 19 August 1883 to an unwed mother Eugénie Jeanne Devolle.

She was the first person to see style as both, classic and casual She was the first person to see style as both, classic and casual. Chanel was ambitious, determined and hard-working lady whose effort clearly reflected in her work.

Chanel’s first fashion venture Arthur Boy Capel, the love of her life, financed her and gave her the liberty she always wanted. Chanel started out selling hats in her first shop on Paris’s Rue Cambon in 1910. “My fortune is built on that old jersey that I’d put on because it was cold in Deauville”, she once told.

Coco’s creations Her extraordinary fashion sense was not just limited to couture clothing but also reflected in fragrance, handbags and jewellery: Chanel N°5; the quilted handbag inspired by men’s satchels; the little black dress; the costume jewellery; the camellia; the chain; the two-tone shoes; the pearl and the tweed.

Legacy After Chanel’s death in 1971, in 1983, designer Karl Lagerfeld joined the house of Chanel as Artistic Director and took the reins at her company to continue the Chanel legacy.
