Vacuum Conveying System This system is used while conveying distance is short. Centrifugal fan and/or centrifugal blower is used as prime mover that blows out the material from different feeding inlets for short distance conveying.

Pressure Conveying System This system is used while conveying distance is long. Compressor is used as prime mover that makes air compression to move the particles from only one source. The above conveyors can be further defined as dense phase conveying system and dilute phase conveying system

Dilute Phase Conveying As the name of the process suggest, it’s a diluted phase, where product/material is too small compare to carrying media like air. The larger air creates low pressure on small amount of particles result in particles are conveyed at destination with high velocity. The particles float into the air and such suspended articles in air are blown in the pipe, which have 2500 to 6000 fpm air velocity. Dilute phase conveying also can be refered as lean phase conveying.

Dense Phase Conveying Dense phase conveying system is totally reverse to dilute phase conveying. In dilute phase, the low number of suspended particles is blown with high velocity air to transfer in pipeline from one destination to another. On reduction of air velocity can fall the suspended air particles. The value of air velocity at which the particles fall from the air suspension is called as “saltation velocity”.

Pneumatic Conveying system Pneumatic Conveying system is the most popular and demanding equipment in pneumatic industrial arena. This is a system that conveys powdered material, pallets and granules in equal size in pipeline through air or vacuum conveying. Pneumatic conveying system is more beneficial than any other traditional conveyor method.

Components of Pneumatic Conveying System It consist basically 4 major parts 1) Prime mover – This is a device which creates force to move the solid particles. 2) Feeding Device – This is a device that feed the powdered material or product into the pipeline is known as feeding device. 3) Pipeline – which carries the material from one destination to another. 4) Air Separator – Bag filter or central vacuum system is used to separate air and tiny particles.
