© A.T.T.S. Inc What Type Of Training Is Being Offered? Seminars: This delivery system has been around for years. It provides helpful information in most cases. If the presentation has good pictures and content, technicians can relate to the information being delivered. Seminars work better if the technicians has experience on the subject that is being taught. A seminar can be used to refresh as well as providing some new information. Time that has to be invested 1.5 to 4 hours in most cases. Down side… there is no testing in most cases…so how do you know that they got it?

© A.T.T.S. Inc What Type Of Training Is Being Offered? Classes: This delivery system has three components: 1. Seminar based training, 2. Hands on in a shop environment, where the technician uses what he/she just learned. 3. Pre and Post testing. This delivery system is more beneficial since the technician has the opportunity to perform the task on the vehicle. If the tech has a problem the instructor is there to help and reinforce the technique. This delivery system works very well for the seasoned and not so seasoned technician. Time that has to be invested 8 to 40 hours in most cases. Down side… limited class size and expense

Technicians call in and listen to the instructor who is presenting information on a specific topic. This targeted training method may provide answers to questions the technician may have. Cost could be low to free. Time that has to be invested 30 to 60 minutes in most cases. Down side… the technician has no visual aid

A training webcast has to be done in a shop environment with the instructor demonstrating a diagnostic or repair technique on a vehicle. There also needs to be interaction with the technicians who are watching. Testing, handouts and other materials can be ed or downloaded. Cost could be free or fee. Time that has to be invested 30 minutes to 3 hours in most cases. Down side… not much … good refresher … prep…or present new information …testing is available.

© A.T.T.S. Inc Younger Workforce = Different Delivery Approach Younger technicians now getting into the business have a different way of learning. These are the same people that don’t watch TV or buy music. This group of technicians are not coming out to seminar, hands on classes or even reading the trade magazines. They much rather be on their I or Droid phones/tablets to get just in time training or information. This younger technician is not doing things the way older technicians have done it in the past. ASE, tool distributors, and others have noticed a difference. Is this a problem? Maybe Yes – Maybe No This is the YouTube – Facebook –Twitter Generation

© A.T.T.S. Inc What Works Better Live Classes, Seminar, Phone or Web? So the answer to this question is that there is nothing better then doing it. Meaning that hands on training allows the technician to take the information that was presented and try using it in the shop. This delivery method ensures that the technician can actually perform the task. The vehicles that you are inspecting in your programs have more computer power then most of your laptops, tablets and smartphones. In order to keep the air clean and have a program that is trouble free you need to provide the proper training. Perhaps make training mandatory
