Deciduous forests receive from 2 to 5 feet ( m) of precipitation (both rain and snow) each year The average temperature in temperate deciduous forests is roughly 75°F (24°C) but gets as high as 86°F (30°C), depending on the altitude of the forest. Forests higher in the mountains are colder.

E ach summer is filled with sunshine. R ed, orange, and yellow leaves fill the air. A totally different scene is shown each season. T emperate Deciduous Forests have many biotic features. E very fall the wind blows while leaves fall. F rost appears on plants toward the beginning of winter. O nly blinding whiteness is shown in winter blizzards. R aging sunlight scorches the ground in the summer. E ach winter the ground is covered with snow. S treams flow as spring begins and the snow melts.
