Advancing Diversity: Establishing a Diverse Profession Goal: AFP will create a community of inclusion by seeking, embracing and engaging diverse individuals, groups and organizations with a broad representation of experiences, perspectives, thoughts and cultures within the fundraising profession. Outcome: AFP will be viewed as a leader in engaging diverse organizations and as the member organization of choice for diverse fundraisers.

DEFINITION DIVERSITY in fundraising - Diversity is the seeking and achieving of a broad representation of experiences, perspectives, opinions and cultures. Inclusiveness is an essential source of vitality and strength for the effective pursuit of an organization’s mission.

PROPOSED DRAFT DEFINITION Diversity and Inclusion in Fundraising – seeks to achieve a broad representation of experiences, perspectives, and cultures to ensure that the best possible thinking, ideas, opportunities and solutions are considered; creates a respectful and welcoming environment that is open to all; and appreciates the unique contributions of every member of the community. We believe that diversity and inclusion create a strong, vital and unified force for the effective pursuit of an organization’s mission and achieving philanthropic success.
