A collection of farms in the Houston area. The farms are designed to help refugees that have landed in Houston learn how to make a living wage through farming. Plant It Forward provides these farmers with a 12 month training program for organic and sustainable farming and then teaches them how to make a living wage selling their crops. Plant It Forward

Located in Cat Spring, TX. Participates in several farmers markets in Austin and Houston. Supplies fresh produce to many fine Houston and Austin restaurants including Benji’s, Georgia‘s Market, Local Foods, Haven, Revival Market, Sorrel, Bess Bistro, Texas French Bread, Vespaio, and more! Animal Farm Center

The Texas Department of Health and Human Services (DSHS) created a program designed to get healthy local produce into the homes of Texas residents while also helping the Texas farmers with a new revenue source. DSHS contracted Sustainable Food Center (SFC), a non-profit organization, to create and maintain a website to take and track the orders as well as to oversee the day-to-day operations of the program. SFC trains the site volunteers (like me!) and liaisons between the farmers and the volunteers. SFC's mission is to cultivate a healthy community by strengthening the local food system and improving access to nutritious, affordable food. They offer a variety of gardening and cooking classes, as well as manage Farmers Markets in the Austin area History

MS Share for March 10, 2016

McGovern Medical School - $25.00 per share. School of Public Health and Dental School - $20.00 per share. Why are they different prices? They are supplied by two different farms that work from two different share models. Both are in line with fair farmers market prices and provide the added value of being delivered to you at your job site. How much does it cost?

SPH Share for August 27, 2015

All of the produce is grown using organic (no pesticides!) and sustainable farming practices. There are no order minimums! Order as often, or as little, as you like. There is a trade basket available at all sites that allows you to trade out items you may not like as much as other produce. Extra Benefits

MS Share for March 17, 2016

SFC provides several recipes for each item on their website. Community Website – I run a secondary website for the MS location that contains thousands of recipes, storage and nutritional information for each item, and offers customers a place to talk to each other and to the farmers. The items that come from both farms are very similar so the customers at all of the UT locations are welcome to use this site. If all else fails, Google is your friend. Recipes Galore!!
