Introduction Jacques Cartier years of exploration were He was born December 31 st 1491 in Saint Malo France. France funded his exploration. King Frances I sent him to find certain islands, lands, gold and treasure.

Exploration On June 9 th Cartier discovered a strait of water that ran South from the Bay of Castles. He named it the strait of Belle Isle. The natives living in Canada when he found it were the Micmacs, The Hurons and the Iroquois. On his explorations he discovered Canada, and tribes called the Micmacs, Iroquois and the Hurons. He also learned where he was at sea, and kept his adventures in a notebook, so future explorers could have help during their voyages. Those were the consequences.

Conclusion and Reflection We learned that Jacques Cartier took 3 voyages but the fist voyage was the main one. We also learned that In 1534, King Francis I of France sent Cartier to North America to search for gold and other precious metals. The expedition left France in April and sailed into what is now the Gulf of St. Lawrence and landed on the Gaspe Peninsula, which Cartier claimed for France.

Conclusion and Reflection What we found interesting about Jacques Cartier was that he was a leader not a follower and that he named things that he discovered.

Jacques Cartier has a bridge named after him it is called Jacques Cartier Bridge. He also has a River named after him it is called The Jacques Cartier River Canada
