Personality Archetypes Emerging from the shared, universal knowledge and images of the collective unconscious are the archetypes They are models of behavior or personalities that are identified in every culture and time Jung created personality typing Meyers-Briggs test is based on Jung’s ideas

Jung Typology Test Categories I or E = Introvert or Extravert N or S= Intuition or Sensing T or F= Thinking or Feeling J or P= Judging or Perceiving

Extraversion/Introversion E or I signifies the source and direction of a person’s energy expression. An extravert’s sources of motivation and ways of expression are mainly in the external world. An introvert has a source of motivation mainly in their own internal world.

Extraversion - detailed Good at multitasking and brainstorming Thrives in groups and teams Stimuli seekers—positive emotional arousal Requires constant external entertainment Not disturbed by noise Can think on-the-spot, improvize Will “talk out” their stresses with others easily

Introversion - detailed Prefer to work in quiet Needs time alone after socializing Prefers one-on-one conversation Brain not as dependent on stimuli for reward Likes to plan and envision ahead of time Rich inner life— “collectors of thoughts” Processes slower but finds meaning

Scientific Evidence: Brain Scans IntrovertExtravert

Sensing/Intuition S or N represents the method by which someone perceives information. Sensing means that you believe information you receive directly from the external world. Intuition means that you believe information you receive from the internal or imaginative world.

Thinking/Feeling T or F represents how a person processes information. Thinking means that decisions are made mainly through logic. Feeling means that, as a rule, decisions are based on emotion, i.e. based on what you feel you should do.

Judging/Perceiving J or P reflects how you use information you have processed. Judging means that a you organize all of your life events and tend to stick to a plan. Perceiving means that you are inclined to improvise and explore alternative options.
