Today’s Sermon: Psalms 9-10, “Thanksgiving For God’s Justice / Prayer For Overthrow Of Wicked” by Pastor Jim Bomkamp

Outline of last study: Ps 8 4. We also saw how that Psalm 8 is a Messianic Psalm. 3. We discussed how great God’s grace is to us humble creatures. 1. King David gazed out into the night sky and observed the stars and the moon & recognized the greatness and majesty of the Lord. 2. We considered some that we know from the field of modern astronomy that illustrated just how accurate King David’s assessment is.

Background for Psalm 9 1. In this Psalm David looks at God’s just dealings with men and is brought to worship the Lord. 2. There is a time for us to rest our hearts and minds on the fact that our God is a just God. 3. If people will not repent and believe the gospel when the word of God is preached and exposed to them, then God will in time bring about condemnation and judgment to them. 4. The Psalms are songs, and songs are the fitting mechanism for us to express our thankfulness to Him.

Background for Psalm 10: We see King David asking the Lord to deal with the wicked, those who oppress the weak and helpless, and overthrow them and remove them from the earth.
