Presentation transcript:

Our Project Our class read Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes, by Eleanor Coerr. In the story they tell about the tradition of making 1,000 cranes to have a wish come true. We wanted to learn more, so we searched on the internet and found out about her memorial in Japan. One of the things we discovered was the International Day of Peace and the tradition of making 1,000 cranes to wish for peace. We are learning to take action locally first to make the world a better place, so we wanted to sponsor a Piney Point Peace Day. We made 1,000 paper cranes from reused paper and wrote the peace pledge. Then we invited the entire school to come and see the cranes and take the pledge. Our wish is that our school is a place of peace. Ms. Boyce’s 4 th graders

You Are Invited! Please bring your class to room A204 to see our 1000 cranes in honor of Sadako Sasaki, the symbol of International Peace Day, and to sign our Piney Point Peace Pledge. Respectfully, Ms. Boyce’s class

Take the Piney Point Peace Pledge! I will treat others with respect. I will not use violence to solve my problems. I will speak up for the rights of others.

Thank you for supporting our project!
